One of my husband and I's favorite weekend getaways is Williamsburg Virginia. There is so much rich history here along with great coffee shops, breweries, great food, and things to do. We have done both 3 day and 2 day trips here. It's about 3 1/2 hours from our hometown. People travel all over the world to visit Williamsburg. Most people come to Williamsburg to visit the colonial area because of all the rich history it holds. You can purchase tickets that will get you into colonial Williamsburg's tours and buildings. I have done the full experience about 3 times and its well worth it! One reason I love Colonial Williamsburg is because you feel like your in an entire new world. The colonial architecture is beautiful and as you walk through you'll notice the town and buildings are built in the style from the 17th century or are original buildings from the 17th century. It's a interactive experience; the people who work in the colonial part are dressed in colonial attire doing different jobs and walking the streets. Everyone's in character as you pass by and take the tours. Kids especially love it because they can run free through the wide cobblestone sidewalks and streets. This is made possible since the roads are closed off to any traffic other than on the main road which has a cross walk. You can even take a carriage ride along the historic streets.

You don't need to buy a pass to have a good time, when my husband and I go we never do the full colonial swing of things. We go for the drinks, food and relaxing culture. Parking is stress free with a parking garage right downtown, adjacent from the colonial area for a small fee of $1.00 per hour. You walk straight out of the parking garage to the historic downtown. Down Prince George Street you will find the BEST cafe,

Aromas Specialty coffees & gourmet bakery. We honestly travel here just for this place. With a cozy European flair you are greeted by a beautiful front patio with flowers and simple seating. When inside you are surrounded by art, music and delicious food. This place is ALWAYS busy as it was voted the best coffee shop in the area. With William and Mary next door it's the college students favorite place to eat and work on homework, and the locals go to coffee and food stop.

Now about the food - They have a huge menu, Breakfast, Lunch & Dinner. I could go on and on about all the amazing food and drinks they have but that would take up this entire post, so I will post the link to their website below, but here are some of my personal favorites.

South West Chicken Wrap - This is my #1. This wrap is full of Chili-marinated chicken breast w/Cheddar and Jack cheese, salsa, lettuce, buttermilk ranch dressing, in a lightly toasted honey-wheat tortilla served with corn tortilla chips.

Brie Cheese Fondue plate - Perfect Snack to share with friends .. or not. Creamy Brie Cheese fondu served over a flame with apples, bread & strawberries for dipping.

Now about the drinks -From specialty coffees, teas, smoothies, juices and spiked coffees there is something for everyone

Aroma's Cappuccino - Starting every morning I'm there off with their espresso and steamed milk is enough to get me going.

Dirty Chai - Full of spice with a hint of sweetness this coffee is more heavy.

Spiked Coffee - Rich coffee blended with Irish Cream... all I can say is it's the perfect way to sit back relax and enjoy your evening.
